Problem Solving

Grades 1–6

This series helps students to further their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills by using the Singapore Math® Four-Step Thinking Process to develop these competencies.

• By explicitly teaching heuristic strategies, this series promotes mathematical thinking and problem-solving competency.
• Applies these four steps:

1. Understand the problem. 
2. Select an approach.
3. Use the selected approach to solve the problem.
4. Check the solution.

• Offers students both a variety of mathematical problems and detailed worked examples, which include tips for guided higher-level thinking.
